Sharon is a native of Las Vegas, NV; she spent the early part of her life
in Emerson Arkansas with her Grandmother Virdia L. Coleman. Sharon
attended and graduated from Chaparral High School in 1976.
Sharon was raised in a Christian home along with her four siblings, she
credits her mother Ezell Gray and grandmother Virdia L. Coleman with
teaching her how to love Christ and be a worker in the church. Sharon was
an active member of New Hope Baptist Church, Pastored by the late J. C.
Coleman where she was a member of the Sunshine Band Youth Dept. and
a part of the choir.
Sharon continued her education at Community College of Southern
Nevada where she earned her R. N. Nursing degree in 1991. Sharon
began her career at Valley Hospital in 1998, and is currently a critical care
nurse in the surgical unit.
Sharon united with Tried Stone Baptist Church in 1990 after marring an
awesome man of God R. W. Smith, who later became the Pastor of Tried
Stone Baptist Church.
As part of her ministry at Tried Stone, Lady Sharon worked with the youth
in vacation bible school alongside the late Tiffany (Toi) Jones, she also
teaches Sunday school, is Mission president, and leader of the Women’s
ministry. During the trying times Lady Sharon holds onto the 23rd Psalms
‘The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want….’
One of Lady Sharon’s desires is that women of all ages unify and become
women of action, through prayer, educational classes, bible studies, and
other related activities. This will ensure they are maturing in their faith, and
growing as women of God.
Lady Sharon and Pastor Smith have been married for 32 years and
together they have eight wonderful children. Lady Sharon holds on to the
word of God for the family; Psalm 91 assures her that:
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide
under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, He is my
refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”
